ECHS BBall Family,
Here we go! Tryouts begin this Saturday. I hope the boys (and the parents) are mentally ready for the journey we are about to undertake. It should be a fun one. Some logistical info:
Physicals/Athletic Handbooks
Athletic paperwork was due Friday, October 29th. In the event that some of you haven't completed it yet, please do so ASAP (they must be completed before tryouts this Saturday). The paperwork can be found here. If you already completed the paperwork for football, you are good to go, as it is good for one calendar year.
Game/Practice Schedules
All games (for all three teams) are posted both on the WeAreEscondido.org basketball page and our MaxPreps page. The schedules are mostly complete on both (there still might be a Novice game added), and I will send out complete schedules to all families once teams are selected.
-Varsity practice will traditionally take place from 3:30-5:15 daily (any students who need to stay for tutorial in a class are excused from the first 30 minutes of practice... grades come first).
-JV practice will traditionally take place from 4:30-6:00 daily.
-Novice practice will vary, but will start out on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00-7:20am in the gym (this will guarantee dedicated court time and maximum reps for those learning the game). Once we get into the season and the Boys and Girls Varsity teams are on the road regularly, the Novice team will have afternoon practices instead. The mornings are just very important early on to get the players up to speed.
Tryouts
Tryouts begin this Saturday, November 6th. 9th and 10th graders will begin at 9am sharp (arrive early so you can be dressed, taped, and ready to go at 9!). 11th and 12th graders will go from 10:30am-12:00pm.
Tryouts will continue Monday, November 8th, from 3:00-5:30pm for all players.
Football
I want to congratulate the ECHS Football team for having the most successful regular season in school history! This will obviously impact the beginning of basketball season, but that is one of those good kinds of problems that we can easily deal with.
I'd like to see football guys interested in playing on that first Saturday of tryouts. After that, just join us when football is done. If you make a team, your spot will be held for you and your coaches will get you up to speed on anything you miss.
OK, I think that's it.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I hope you are as excited about the upcoming season as I am!
Coach V
