NO PRACTICE ON MONDAY - In observance of Columbus Day we will not be holding practice this Monday, 10/11. I hope everyone enjoys the day off.
League Tournament - I will need to know by this Monday, 10/11 if you plan to participate in our League Tournament that will be held on Thursday, 10/21 at Orange Glen High School. Check in will be at 9:30am and it will go until approx. 4pm. Also, you will need to decide if you would like to play singles or doubles. If you are planning on playing doubles you need to let me know who you would like to partner with for the Tournament. Please email me what you plan to do by the end of day on Monday.
Team Photo and Individual Pics - This Wednesday, 10/13 we will be having our team pictures taken at the beginning of practice, so please arrive on time and dressed in your uniform by 4:30pm. We will continue with practice right after pictures are taken.
End of Season Awards Banquet - If anyone is interested in helping plan this event I will be holding a short meeting after our HOME match this Thursday, October 14 around 5:45pm. If you can’t make it, but you’d like to help organize it…please let me know by emailing me at [email protected]
Team Bonding Event - I heard several girls talking on the bus drive home from Friday’s match about Bates Nut Farm, so I thought it would be fun to go up there together and hang out this coming Friday, 10/15. I haven’t been there in years, so I’m not familiar with everything they have to offer, but please send money with them for food and if they’d like to pick a pumpkin as I’m sure those are two things they have. We will leave right after Tutorial at 4:00pm and return by 6:30pm.(NBF has extended hours this coming Friday). I have requested vans for this event, so I’m hopeful they’ll be available for our use.

Last Week's Match Updates:
ECHS vs CAHS - Final score was 6-12. We doubled our wins this time playing them, so way to go White Tigers! Thank you to Jordyn Hoit and Arlunya Sisomvang for providing snacks for the team!
ECHS vs Oceanside - Final score was also 6-12. Our singles had some tough matches, but they never give up and they keep learning and improving in their game. Our doubles teams are learning to communicate and work together as partners. Those not on the lineup had the opportunity to play in a singles exhibition match, so that was cool to see them competing for fun. Thank you to Michelle Saravia for providing snacks/drinks for the team!
ECHS vs Santa Fe Christian - Final score was 7-11. The tennis facilities were very nice at San Dieguito Academy where SFC plays their home matches. The weather was perfect for playing tennis. Thank you to Mr. Stephens, Jordan’s dad, for providing snacks/drinks for the team!
Recap of SFC Singles and Doubles Matches:
Jordyn Hoit came out from being down 1-5 in her first set to winning it 7-5. That’s not easy to do, but she figured out her opponent's game, stayed mentally strong and focused on her game to win the set. Well done Jordyn.
Then there was Anika and Jasmyn in their third set who played so many points well by staying consistent and hitting one more ball than their opponents which ultimately gave them their winning score of 6-3.
Jordan Stephens had the longest 2nd set match. Every time I looked over she was having longest rallies back and forth until finally someone would make an error. It finally came down to a score of 6 ALL which then went to a tiebreaker where Jordan won it 7-5 making her final match score 7-6.
I also want to mention how well Hannah and Frida played together, especially never having played as partners before this match. They had the attention of many spectators during their third set. There were many great rallies back and forth with their opponents. Hannah was focused and ready at the baseline for any ball that came her way. Frida was there to back her up and to support her in any way she could. Though they lost 2:6 the score did not reflect the game they played. Way to go you two!
Charlotte and Alyssa had a couple tough matches but they learned from them and they didn’t let them get them down. They have grown so much in their game as doubles partners. They are learning to communicate with one another and to move well with each other on the court. They have nice topspin and follow through on their strokes as well as consistent serves that have nice spin and slice.
Nothing seems to get Arlunya down.…she always has a positive outlook on her matches no matter if she wins or loses and uses each experience as a learning opportunity. Thank you for being Captain and leading as a good example.
