ECHS golf families,

Golf tryouts are scheduled for Feb 18, 19 and 20. The tryouts will be held at Eagle Crest Golf Club. Tryouts will be 4:00pm - 5:30pm each day. We can provide transport for a few students to the course but students are encouraged to try and make their own way to the course for the week of tryouts. Please dress appropriately see "dress code" below.

We have had a significant number of students that have expressed an interest in the program so we may have to make cuts after tryouts. Many of you that have never played golf before will be able to play but I highly recommend that, for tryouts, you borrow clubs and hold off on buying golf shoes. After tryouts have been completed and we have confirmed who can play then you can invest in clubs and shoes.

DRESS CODE: Players must wear a collared shirt. Players should wear slacks or bermuda-length tailored dress shorts or knee length skirt or knee length skort. Players should wear soft spike golf shoes. The following will not be permitted: t-shirts, tank tops, jeans of any color or type. Cargo shorts and pants are not permitted.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO PLAY: To play golf you will need to have golf shoes and clubs (at least half a set). As I mentioned above, If you are a new player I would highly suggest you borrow clubs for the first week. If you are buying clubs for the first time I would recommend you take a look at craig's list. If you need golf shoes you can buy them at Dicks Sporting, Big 5 or there is a Golf Mart in Escondido. Shoes can be spiked or spikeless. The most important thing with shoes is that they are comfortable. You will be doing a lot of walking in them. The only other item you might want to consider buying is a glove.
