I hope this finds you all well and enjoying your final days of summer break. A few weeks back we concluded our preseason summer training at Kit Carson Park and got our running off to a solid start. Hopefully during the CIF no-contact period you have maintained the habits we fostered there and are starting to feel fit and ready for a great cross country season. Any running/conditioning you have done will help pay dividends as we head into fall.
It's been a warm week and hopefully you have been staying active and doing so safely, with plenty of hydrating and recovery time. As we head towards the official start of the season I wanted to send a few updates and make sure everyone on the same page and is set for training.
Be sure to get your physicals completed. These have been slowly trickling in but they are a must for the season. Athletes may not participate in any practices without this requirement. If you have not completed this, please do so prior to first day of practice August 15 (new date).
THE FIRST DAY OF OFFICIAL TRAINING/MEETING as a team has been moved to August 15. We will meet at 4 p.m. outside of F Building on the grass. Please note this change from previous information or postings. You should be prepared to train (running clothes, running shoes, reusable water bottle, sunscreen, snack, etc.) and ready to meet your team and coaches.
Practices will be M-F from 4-5:30 p.m. unless otherwise specified. These time are tentative for now as we fine tune school scheduling etc. While we will run on and around campus, there will be days we meet at different locations to train (within 10 minutes of school). Athletes will need to secure transportation to these locations and practice will dismiss from there as well. All these practices will be stated in advance so parents can arrange transportation and should not occur more than once or twice a week. This is an important tool in our training and allows for some softer surfaces to train on as well as mimicking our race locations.
Best,
Coach Hallinan
