ECHS Football Family,
I would first like say Happy Mother's Day. We are so grateful for the roles and impact moms have on our football program. Here is a quick look back at our Football Mothers Day.
We are back! Players I can not wait to be back on the field with you all for our two weeks of Spring Football starting Monday May 9th. As a reminder, all players must arrive on time (3:15pm) and be dressed in their spring football uniform.
In addition, we are very excited to announce the 2022 “Draft” night at Escondido Charter High School Monday May 9th at 6:30pm. This will be a great chance for current and new athletes and families to get the details about all our ECHS Academics and Athletics. Please help spread the word.
In closing, Watching the NFL draft recently I was reminded of a Running Back from UCLA by the name of Derrick Coleman who was not drafted. Derrick was legally deaf and from a young age decided that his disability would not translate into an excuse. He not only starred in a Duracell Commercial, he also went on to win a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks as his team demolished the Denver Broncos 43-8. As amazing as Derrick’s story is about perseverance and grit what is more amazing is the sound of compassion and empathy he displayed to two young fans who could relate to his journey. Riley and Erin Kovalcik are 9 year twins who also are legally deaf and found hope in Derrick’s journey. Watch this clip as the twins discuss how they found hope in Derrick’s story of determination.
Let’s look and listen for our opportunities to bring empathy and hope to those needing a brighter day in perhaps their darkest hour of need.

OTA - Team Captain Leadership Course Starting February 2nd (Every Wednesday at Lunch). We will be learning how to be a better leader by serving others. We will be going through the "Man in the Arena" program. Only players who complete this course are eligible to earn the opportunity to be a team captain.
