Hello Football Families,
I hope this email finds you all enjoying your first week of summer vacation. As we end this school year, I could not help but reflect on the past 180 school days. I packed away one of my favorite John Wooden books (https://amzn.com/0809230410) and it he said, ”Regardless of what kind of players I’ve had on my teams, there was always one common thread. Our athletes were bonded together by something bigger than our sport." As you enjoy your summer be sure to reach out to a teammate to encourage them. A short phone call or text message can really brighten a day for one of your teammates. That is a great way to bond and more importantly "Honor your Team."
Summer conditioning starts on June 21 and each year I get a lot of questions about this Organized Team Activity (OTA). Let me answer some of those questions in Q & A Format:
Q - Do I need to complete a waiver to attend summer workouts?
A - Yes. A Summer Conditioning Waiver Form can be digitally filled out at: https://bit.ly/ahcsrelease
Q - Do I have to attend Summer Conditioning?
A - Summer Conditioning is a voluntary OTA. We recommend that every player go through these 4 weeks to prepare their bodies for a football season.
Q - What if I have a family vacation planned or summer camp?
A - Although we did hand out our team calendar in January so that families could plan vacations and camps, we understand that sometimes there will be a summer conflict. Rule of thumb is, “If you are in town during summer conditioning be at the workouts. If you are out of town, have fun with your family and friends.” Just remember to wear sunblock! SPF 50!
Q - Where and when do the summer conditioning practices take place?
A - We start practice the first week at 7PM sharp at Escondido Charter High School
Here is how the first week schedule looks:
7:00pm - Dynamic Warm Up
7:10pm - John Wooden Pyramid of Success Block
7:20pm - Speed, Weights & Agility Rotation 01
7:30pm - Speed, Weights & Agility Rotation 02
7:40pm - Speed, Weights & Agility Rotation 03
7:50pm - Speed, Weights & Agility Rotation 04
8:00pm - Speed, Weights & Agility Rotation 05
8:10pm - Speed, Weights & Agility Rotation 06
8:20pm - Team Finish
8:30pm - Dismiss
Q - What should I bring to the Summer Conditioning Workouts?
A - Cleats, black shorts, and your spring football t-shirt (Football Team will provide you a workout shirt). Also a water jug to stay hydrated and a healthy snack. On a side note it is really important that you drink a lot of water the day before your workouts and during workouts.
Q - What days of the week do we work out?
A - We run our summer conditioning program Monday - Thursday.
Play as One!
