Tiger Football,
Our voluntary summer workouts are off to a great start with over 50 Tiger Football Players present. Our athletes have worked very hard this week and we are very proud of their efforts as we continue to improve. We will be back at it this Monday at 4:00pm at ECHS as we enter week 2/4. Players as a reminder you need to be drinking plenty of water the day before your workouts as well as during them. Stay hydrated!
In closing I read a great quote recently that said “Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don't really matter.” As you and I enjoy our summer let’s focus on the things that really matter. Let’s work hard and give our best effort not only at practice but also at home in our chores and responsibilities. Let’s live pure and guard against things that ought not go into our bodies, and guard against things that ought not come out of our mouths and use language of a gentleman. Let’s lead with courage despite what is popular or easy. Finally let’s honor our teammates by putting the team’s needs before our own and finish what we start. Tiger Football you can control only three things… your attitude, your effort, and your focus, so spend your focus, effort, and attitude this summer on the things that matter… People!

DYK 03 - Summer conditioning started this week and I have received some questions. Let me answer some of those questions in Q & A Format:
Q - Where is summer conditioning and what are the times of the workouts?
A - Summer work outs are at Escondido Charter High School. We will meet on the athletic field from 4PM-5:30PM.
Q - What days of the week do we work out?
A - We run our summer conditioning program Monday - Thursday.
Q - Do I have to attend Summer Conditioning?
A - Summer Conditioning is a voluntary OTA. We recommend that every player go through these 4 weeks to prepare their bodies for a football season.
Q - What if I have a family vacation planned or summer camp?
A - Although we did hand out our team calendar in January so that families could plan vacations and camps, we understand that sometimes there will be a summer conflict. Rule of thumb is, “If you are in town during summer conditioning be at the workouts. If you are out of town, have fun with your family and friends.” Just remember to wear sunblock! SPF 50!
Here is how the schedule looks:
Dynamic Warm Up
John Wooden Pyramid of Success Block
Speed & Agility Rotation 01
Speed & Agility Rotation 02
Speed & Agility Rotation 03
Speed & Agility Rotation 04
Speed & Agility Rotation 05
Speed & Agility Ends / Hydrate and Refuel (Recommended that each player brings their own water and healthy snack)
Q - What should I bring to the Summer Conditioning Workouts?
A - Cleats, black shorts, and your spring football t-shirt (We will hand these out tomorrow at the start of practice). Also a water jug to stay hydrated and a healthy snack. On a side note it is really important that you drink a lot of water the day before your workouts and during workouts.
In addition, San Diego County has released Guidelines for re-opening schools. Escondido Charter has created guidelines specific for our facilities based on CA Department of Health Guidelines, SD County Guidelines, NFHS Guidelines, USOPC Guidelines, and Day Camp Guidelines. The following rules will be in effect until further notice from AHCS and ECHS Administrators:Athlete participation is voluntary. Athletes that wish to participate in summer workouts must follow the guidelines/rules or they will not be allowed to participate.
Parents may not attend/watch practices.
Athletes must bring their own face mask (Masks will not be required during exercise), water bottle labeled with their name, and hand sanitizer each day. Athletes must arrive ready to workout (clothes, shoes, etc.). Athletes are also
encouraged to wear sweat bands, hats, etc. to reduce touching their face throughout the workouts.
Athletes will be screened for symptoms and temperature will be taken/recorded by a coach at the beginning
of practice each day. Athletes with a temperature above 99.9°F will be sent home immediately and may not return for 14 days. Athlete will also be referred for a physician evaluation.
Athletes that have symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend practice and should self-isolate for at least 14 days.
Athletes/Coaches will be placed in groups no larger than 12 and must stay with those groups until further notice.
There will be no use of the locker room until further notice. All activity will take place outside until Phase 1 of return to participation is completed.
