Hello Football Family,
Congratulations on winning the first playoff game in school history! I am so proud of each member of our team! From players, to coaches, to our film crew, team mom, and snack bar team! What a great picture of loving each other and playing as one!
This week we are going to unpack the concept of being a fair weathered "fan" vs being a "football" player. One of our core values is leading with courage. The best leaders I have ever met are "courageous" individuals who relentlessly pursue goodness... often times they put themselves in difficult and sometimes dangerous situations to pursue good. Then there are individuals who sometimes do good things but lack courage to do what is right when they are tired our when it is not popular and then they crumble when suffering or trials come.
The question often asked is what is the fuel to pursue good... the answer is love. Take a moment to watch "The Heart of Standing Tall - Love."

As we pursue of 5th and final goal let's let love lead the way.

“Success is never final. Failure is never fatal. It’s courage that counts.”
- John Wooden
It has been said that courage, like love, must be nourished with hope. The following is a story Coach Wooden told, which combines courage, love and hope for an amazing result:
Years ago, at the Seattle Special Olympics, nine contestants assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash. At the gun, they all started out with a relish to run the race to the finish and win; all, that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times, and began to cry. The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back, and then they all turned around and went back—every one of them. One girl bent down and kissed him and said, “This will make it better.” Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line. Everyone in the stadium stood, and the cheering went on for several minutes.
Courage and love nourished by hope is a beautiful thing.
