Both our JV and varsity teams had a great start to the season with our scrimmage against San Pasqual Saturday. The JV team had a lead most of the game, but ended up losing a close game. The varsity team rallied with 2 runs in the last inning to tie the game. Considering that San Pasqual has been a Division I team the last few years, this was an excellent start for both teams.
We are giving the teams the day off on the holiday Monday and we will resume practices on Tuesday and Wednesday at the normal time of 4:15 until dark. On Thursday the varsity team plays Classical Academy at home in a 3:30 start. Friday the JV team plays at Fallbrook at 3:30. The JV game on Friday is one of three JV games this season that follows a varsity game in the same week. This means that any player who participates in the varsity game on Thursday will not be eligible to play in the JV game on Friday. We will probably only play 9 or 10 players in the varsity game on Thursday so we have at least 9 players available for the Friday JV game.
Coach K is going to try to reserve a school van for the JV game in Fallbrook. We will need to get a head count later this week of how many players will need a ride to the game in Fallbrook.
The following week the varsity team will be competing on the Cougar Classic tournament at Kit Carson Park. This is one of biggest and best high school softball tournaments in San Diego. Most of the top Division I teams participate in this tournament every year.
