Wooden Wins! - Alertness
Our Pyramid of Success focus this month will be on Initative. At American Heritage Charter Schools, we celebrate the core value of “working hard”. Initiative means having the courage to make decisions and take action. Simple as that. Keep in mind that we all are going to fail at times. We must understand this and not fear failure. None of us are perfect. But if we are afraid to fail we will never do the things we are capable of doing. If you have thoroughly prepared and are ready to give it everything you've got there is no shame if you fail - nothing to fear in failure. But fear of failure is what often prevents one from taking action - from using initiative.

Key Idea: Make a Decision! Failure to act is often the biggest failure of all!

Activity: Family Date
Family Response: As a family have each member choose an activity and lead the family through the activity.
Example:
Dad - Chooses A Hike and Leads the Family on a hike.
Mom - Chooses a Brunch location to eat at and prepares questions for the family to answer at the meal (ie. What nickname would you choose for yourself?, What is your ideal day look like? ect.)
Child/Children - Choose an item to bake at home (Cookies, rolls, etc.)

In the Class

Class Response: Discuss ways you can help others and take initiative.

On the Field

Team Response: As a team discuss when we are passive on the field or court. What happens when we are passive in life?
